Zubeen Garg's mortal remains are now being prepared for repatriation to Assam, where fans and loved ones eagerly await to pay their final respects.

The post-mortem was conducted in Singapore, and Zubeen’s body has been handed over to a team accompanying him, including Shekar Jothi Goswami, Sandeepan Garg, and his manager, Siddharth Sharma, with support from Indian Embassy officials.

The singer’s remains will soon be brought back to Guwahati, where they will be placed at Sarusajai Stadium for the public to honour his legacy.

Zubeen’s family has expressed that he was a cherished figure among the people of Assam, and arrangements for his last rites will be decided upon collectively upon his return.

It may be mentioned that the heartthrob of Assam died during a diving incident in Singapore, where he was scheduled to take part and perform at the North East Festival.

Garg reportedly had a seizure while swimming, and despite attempts to save him by various means, he passed away in the ICU.

There were initial reports that he died during a paragliding accident and then a scuba diving accident. Later, it was claimed that he died while swimming in the ocean after having a seizure. Following this, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that he was informed that Zubeen drowned while swimming as he had not worn a life jacket.
