The injured has been identified as Anowar Hussain (32), a resident of Milekuchi.AdvertismentAccording to police, the incident occurred at around 2 AM when Hussain allegedly attempted to escape from custody. He had been detained earlier in the night for his suspected involvement in a drug trafficking network operating in the area.Police said Hussain had confessed during interrogation that he had narcotics hidden at his residence. Based on this input, a team of Tarabari Police took him along to recover the drugs. However, on the way, Hussain reportedly pushed the officers and tried to flee. In response, police opened fire, injuring him in the left leg.Hussain was immediately taken to Barpeta Medical College & Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.The arrest comes days after a major seizure on 6 November, when Tarabari Police recovered 11 soap cases filled with suspected heroin from an Alto vehicle.
