Five Bail Applications Being Heard in Zubeen Garg Murder Case

The District and Sessions Judge Court, Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati, is hearing five bail applications today in connection with the murder of Assam’s most celebrated cultural icon, Zubeen Garg.

However, during the proceedings, accused Shyamkanu Mahanta and Sandipan Garg are withdrawing their bail applications.

The court is continuing to hear the bail plea of accused Amritprabha, while the bail applications filed by two Personal Security Officers (PSOs) assigned to Zubeen Garg are also being taken up.

The state government is submitting written objections, opposing the remaining bail pleas, as the matter is being heard before the Sessions Judge.

Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima Garg, and his sister, Palmee Borthakur, are present in court during the hearing. Advocate Anan Kumar Bhuyan, appearing on behalf of accused Amritprabha, is advancing arguments before the court, claiming that there is no material evidence on record to substantiate the allegations.

Advocate Dhrubajyoti Das, representing the Legal Services Authority, is also present in court.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the case is remaining present during the proceedings.
