A forest team led by the Range Officer rushed to the site and recovered the animal’s body from the bank of Chitalmari beel.Officials confirmed that the horn was intact when the carcass was located, ruling out any immediate signs of poaching. A post-mortem examination was conducted at the site, following which the horn was removed and placed in safe custody as per established wildlife protection protocols.Veterinary experts from the Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden assessed the remains and stated that the rhino, estimated to be around 40 years old, died of natural causes.
