The film explores the relationship between political leadership and the police system, focusing on the tensions and contradictions between the two institutions. The poster released at the event has drawn attention for departing from the visual style commonly seen in Assamese cinema.

Produced by the ABCD Group, Khaki is set to hit theatres ahead of the upcoming elections. According to the production team, the film is currently in the final stages of post-production, with major technical work underway in Mumbai.

The Digital Intermediate (DI) and colour correction processes are being carried out at Prasad Film Laboratories in Mumbai. The DI work is being handled by Kiran Kota, who has previously worked on Hindi films such as A Wednesday and Madras Cafe. The makers said advanced colour correction technology has been used for the project.

Background scoring and other post-production work are also being completed in Mumbai. The background score and music have been composed by Daniel B. George, known for his work in films including Andhadhun, Merry Christmas, and Johnny Gaddaar. Playback singing for the film has been done by Anuja Bhuyan, Rupam Bhuyan, and Joi Barua.
