AAMSU’s Chief Advisor, Ainuddin Ahmed, led the charge, stating that the organization would not tolerate comments that target a specific community or threaten their constitutional rights.

In a strong statement, Ahmed said, “Stop targeting a particular community in the name of Hindu–Muslim divisions.” He added that the Miya community is an inseparable part of Assamese society and has always sought to live in the state with unity, harmony, and brotherhood.

He further asserted, “This is their constitutional right, and the Chief Minister cannot take this right away. The Miya community can never be wiped out, and the Chief Minister himself knows this very well.”

AAMSU also accused Sarma of lowering the dignity of the Chief Minister’s office through his remarks. “We will never accept any attempt to target a specific community,” the AAMSU leader declared.

The organization also urged the Chief Minister to focus on ensuring justice for singer Zubeen Garg, instead of making what they described as “senseless statements.”
Reiterating its stand, AAMSU stated, “The Chief Minister can never wipe out the Miya community. Their constitutional rights are intact and cannot be taken away by anyone.”

The students’ body’s strong reaction comes amid growing debate and criticism surrounding the CM’s comments, which have triggered widespread discussion across the state.

In another incident, Strong reactions have erupted across Assam after a Facebook page allegedly posted derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad, triggering widespread condemnation and protests from various organisations.

The controversy began when a post appeared on the Facebook page “Himanta Biswa Sharma Supporters”, which not only carried offensive comments about Prophet Muhammad but also featured the Chief Minister’s photograph.
