"Guwahati: Garima Saikia Garg, wife of the late music icon Zubeen Garg, approached the Assam Police Crime Branch on Monday morning to lodge a formal First Information Report (FIR) against writer Sikha Sarma over alleged derogatory remarks made on social media.Advertisment According to sources, the FIR has been filed in connection with a series of Facebook posts in which Sikha Sarma is accused of making objectionable and defamatory comments targeting the late singer. The posts allegedly included remarks questioning Zubeen Garg"s character, which, the complainants claim, have caused deep hurt to the family and his admirers. Notably, Today marks four months since the passing of Zubeen Garg. On the same day, Garima Saikia Garg approached the Crime Branch seeking legal action over what she described as repeated and offensive online statements directed at her late husband. Members of the Zubeen Garg Fan Club were also present at Dispur Police Station, where they submitted a complaint demanding strict action against Sikha Sarma. The fan club alleged that over the past several days, the writer had consistently posted inflammatory and disrespectful comments about the legendary musician on social media platforms. The complaints further state that such remarks not only defame the legacy of a revered cultural figure but also risk disturbing public harmony. Copies of the alleged social media posts have reportedly been submitted to the police as part of the complaint. Zubeen Garg, widely regarded as one of Assam"s most influential cultural icons, passed away on 19th September 2025, leaving behind a profound legacy in music and public life.
