Does GPS on your phone spy on you?

The study, published in ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks, proposes a system called AndroCon that uses GPS data to infer information about a person's surroundings. This includes whether they're sitting, standing, or lying down, and whether they're in a crowded or empty room.

AndroCon can also create indoor floor maps, identifying rooms, staircases, and elevators with a high degree of accuracy. The researchers used a combination of signal processing and machine learning to turn raw GPS data into clear insights.

The study's findings raise concerns about security and privacy. Any Android app with location permissions could potentially access this sensitive information without user consent.
