ManipurManipur: Interstate Drug Racket Busted, Two Assam Men Held with WY Tablets Worth Rs 2 CroreA joint operation by Manipur Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Assam Rifles arrested two alleged smugglers from Assam and seized contraband worth over ₹2 crore in the international market.DY365 Dec 07, 2025 16:28 ISTImphal: In a crackdown on cross-border narcotics trafficking, a joint operation by Manipur Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Assam Rifles arrested two alleged smugglers from Assam and seized contraband worth over ₹2 crore in the international market.AdvertismentThe accused, identified as Rajib Hussain Mazumder from Ranighat in Krishnapur and Sahar Alom Mazumder from Dubang (both in Silchar, Assam), were intercepted on Saturday at Leingangpokpi village, around 15 km from Jiribam district headquarters on National Highway 37.Acting on specific intelligence, the joint team stopped a Toyota Fortuner in which the duo was travelling and recovered 50,000 highly addictive WY/R-marked tablets weighing approximately 5.184 kg (including packaging).Authorities also seized the luxury SUV, three mobile phones, and the Aadhaar cards of the arrested individuals.The contraband and other items were formally seized in the presence of independent witnesses as per legal procedure, and the suspects were handed over to Jiribam Police Station.A case has been registered against the duo under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Act, 2023, and further investigation is underway to dismantle the larger smuggling network.
