Manipur :Large Cache of Weapons Seized in Anti-Insurgency Operation

Manipur Police, in collaboration with central forces, conducted an extensive house-to-house search and anti-insurgency operation on Saturday, recovering a substantial haul of weapons in Imphal West district, officials said.

Acting on specific intelligence, the joint team targeted the Ngairangbam Loukon Inter-Village Road (IVR), which connects Khongakhul and Longa Koireng villages under the jurisdiction of Patsoi police station. The operation focused on rooting out members of various Valley-based underground groups suspected of operating in the area.

As part of the exercise, authorities carried out identification parades involving local residents, particularly male youths, in and around the villages. While no arrests were made during the operation, the team unearthed a significant cache of arms and related equipment.

The seized items included a .303 rifle with a magazine, a modified .303 rifle with a magazine, five pistols each equipped with a magazine, five helmets, four bulletproof vests with magazine pouches, eight plates believed to be used for bulletproofing, one BAOFENG handheld communication set with its charger, ten pairs of camouflage pants with matching shirts, and four bags.

According to officials, all recovered items have been handed over to the Patsoi police station for further investigation and necessary legal action.
