ManipurManipur: Security Forces Dismantle Insurgent Camps, Arrest Two MilitantsIn a series of coordinated operations over the past 24 hours, security forces in Manipur dismantled two insurgent camps, seized a significant haul of weapons, and apprehended two members of a banned militant groupDY365 Oct 05, 2025 21:21 ISTRepresentative Photograph: (Pixabay)In a series of coordinated operations over the past 24 hours, security forces in Manipur dismantled two insurgent camps, seized a significant haul of weapons, and apprehended two members of a banned militant group, police reported on Sunday.AdvertismentBased on intelligence inputs, a joint team of central and state security forces initiated the first phase of the operation in the Kanglatombi area under Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West district.The raid uncovered a cache of firearms, including a 9 mm Carbine Sub Machine Gun with a magazine, a .303 rifle with a magazine, a 9 mm pistol with a magazine containing three rounds, a .32 pistol with a magazine, seven locally crafted bolt-action single-barrel guns, one additional locally made single-barrel gun, three BAOFENG handheld radios, ten .303 ammunition rounds, and two bulletproof vests.In the second phase, a follow-up operation was conducted in the Kotzim area near COB Kotlen, under New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Kangpokpi district. The team recovered a Heckler & Koch G4 rifle with a magazine, two bolt-action rifles, two pull-mechanism rifles, two improvised mortars, two 36-hand grenades, a tube launcher, and two pairs of jungle shoes.During the third phase, security forces arrested two members of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group): Shamurailatpam Prakash Sharma (44) and Soibam Malemnganba Meitei (44). The arrests were made at separate hideouts in Imphal East district, where the suspects were allegedly involved in extorting money from hospitals and residents in the valley region.All seized weapons and the detained individuals have been handed over to the respective police stations for further investigation and legal proceedings.
