Manipur: Two Madhya Pradesh Men Arrested with 4.8 kg Heroin at Imphal Airport

Imphal: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) arrested two non-local individuals from Madhya Pradesh at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal, Manipur, on Friday afternoon after recovering 4.8 kilograms of heroin from their possession.

The arrests took place when the accused attempted to board Air India Express flight IX 1038 bound for Guwahati.

The suspects have been identified as Suresh Prajapat and Vijay Singh, both residents of Madhya Pradesh.

According to airport security officials, the duo was intercepted during a routine random frisking and baggage screening exercise. Upon detailed inspection, heroin powder weighing exactly 4.8 kg was discovered concealed on their person.

The arrested persons, along with the seized contraband, were immediately handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for further investigation and legal action under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

CISF officials stated that a thorough probe is underway to trace the origin of the narcotics, identify any accomplices, and uncover potential connections to larger interstate or cross-border drug trafficking networks.

While the exact value of the suspected drugs has not shared, it has been claimed that the heroin may be worth over Rs 33 crore in the international grey market.
