The vehicle, bearing registration number AS11DC1200, was stopped and thoroughly searched.During the inspection, officers discovered four soap boxes concealing around 45.5 grams of heroin, along with four mobile phones belonging to the accused.The arrested persons have been identified as Shymal Boro from Kamrup district, Matab Uddin from Cachar, Ataur Rohman from Karimganj, and Biren Singha from Hailakandi district.Police believe the four individuals are members of a well-organised interstate crime syndicate engaged in the transportation of narcotics across state borders.East Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police Vikash Kumar confirmed that the successful operation stemmed from precise intelligence and underscored the district police’s unwavering commitment to combating drug trafficking.“Based on credible intelligence, our Anti-Narcotics Task Force conducted a naka at Umkiang and successfully intercepted the tanker. The recovery indicates possible links to an organised interstate drug network, and we are pursuing the investigation to identify other members involved”, SP Kumar said.A case has been registered at Lumshnong Police Station under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
