In a major anti-drug operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Meghalaya carried out a raid at the residence of a suspected drug supplier, Rahul Chhetri, in the Lower Rynjah area of Shillong.

According to reports, the operation was conducted based on specific intelligence inputs about illegal drug activities. 

However, Rahul Chhetri managed to escape after reportedly sensing the police team's presence. He fled from the spot in a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga vehicle bearing registration number ML-10B-5347. Police have since launched an intensive search operation to trace and arrest him at the earliest.

During the raid, the ANTF team successfully apprehended two other alleged drug suppliers from the location. A substantial quantity of narcotics was recovered from the house. Officials seized 2,060 Nitrazepam tablets, which are estimated to have an illegal market value of approximately Rs 8.24 lakh.

Additionally, 23 soap boxes containing around 237 grams of suspected heroin were recovered. The estimated market value of the seized heroin is about Rs 47.40 lakh. Police also recovered Rs 27,300 in cash from the arrested individuals.

In an official press release, the ANTF stated that further investigation is underway and efforts are being intensified to nab the absconding accused.
