Citing disturbing reports of assaults in various regions, including an incident in Assam's Nalbari district, Syngkon described these acts as particularly alarming given their timing during a festival dedicated to peace and joy.

He warned that such violence instils fear within minority groups and poses a serious threat to communal harmony.

Emphasising India's strength lies in its rich diversity, the MP cautioned against conflating national unity with enforced uniformity. He asserted that the true bedrock of the nation is mutual respect among different religions, cultures, and regions, and any attempts to erode this foundation would damage the country's social cohesion.

Syngkon highlighted the unique demographic realities in a diverse nation like India, where communities can be minorities in one area and majorities in another, underscoring the need for consistent application of constitutional safeguards nationwide.

He placed clear responsibility on the Union government to take decisive action against divisive forces and ensure such events do not repeat.

The MP further cautioned that any inaction or silence from authorities could empower elements seeking to sow discord, adding that preserving pluralism is vital for India's long-term stability and development.

Syngkon expressed optimism that his appeal would prompt swift and serious intervention at the highest levels of government.
