"The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has issued a strong demand for the resignation of all 30 members of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), citing their failure to address the ongoing challenges faced by residents of Lapangap village in West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.Advertisment Nangkhrawbor Rani, the general secretary of FKJGP"s West Jaintia Hills unit, expressed deep frustration over the JHADC"s apparent disregard for the villagers" plight. He noted that despite the escalating tensions in Lapangap, no JHADC member has visited the village to evaluate the situation or engage with affected residents. He emphasised that the JHADC"s silence has only intensified feelings of abandonment among the villagers. The FKJGP reaffirmed its solidarity with the farmers and called on the JHADC to take urgent action to prevent further escalation. The organisation stressed that the Council"s core responsibility is to protect the rights and welfare of its constituents, a duty it has failed to uphold in Lapangap"s case."
