Bengaluru: 21-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured in Fall from Lodge Balcony While Attempting Escape After Police Visit

A 21-year-old woman sustained severe injuries after plummeting from the fourth-floor balcony of a lodge in Bengaluru's Brookefield area, reportedly while trying to flee via a drainpipe following a police intervention over noise complaints during a late-night party.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday at Sea Esta Lodge, where the woman had checked into three rooms with seven friends to celebrate. The group was reportedly partying from around 1 am until nearly 5 am, prompting nearby residents to dial the emergency helpline 112 to report loud disturbances.

Police personnel responded to the call, visited the lodge, and cautioned the group about the nuisance caused to locals. Unconfirmed reports suggest that officers may have demanded money from some male members of the group, though authorities have yet to verify these claims.

Shortly after the police left, the woman is said to have panicked and attempted to descend from her fourth-floor room using a drainpipe attached to the balcony. She lost her grip, fell, and suffered critical injuries. Her companions rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she remains in serious condition.

The woman's father, Antony, lodged a formal complaint, leading police to register a case against the lodge owner for alleged negligence, particularly citing inadequate safety features in the balcony area. The complaint also calls for a thorough probe, including statements from the woman's friends, lodge employees, and the responding police officers.
