When I refused, the two officers — Dheeraj Komalwar and Maheet Asarwar — mocked my brother, saying, ‘You keep landing here after murders. Why don’t you finish off the boy your sister is roaming with?’ My brother replied, ‘I will kill him by evening and come back to you,’” she alleged.Anchal, who belongs to the Special Backwards Class, said Saksham was from the Scheduled Caste community and was often derogatorily referred to by her family as a “Jai Bhimwala”. Despite initial assurances, her family turned hostile once they learnt about the caste difference. “They ate with him, acted friendly, and even promised to arrange our wedding. Saksham was ready to convert for me. We never imagined they would betray us like this,” a distraught Anchal said. The fatal attack took place on Thursday evening when Anchal’s brother, Himesh Mamidwar, picked a fight with Saksham, shot him in the ribs, and then smashed a tile on his head. Six people, including Anchal’s father, Gajanan Mamidwar, brothers Himesh and Sahil, and three others, have been arrested. They face charges of murder, rioting, unlawful assembly, provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Arms Act under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The next day, as Saksham’s body lay at his home before cremation, Anchal arrived in bridal attire, applied sindoor, tied the mangalsutra, and completed marriage rituals with his corpse — an act of final defiance that has since gone viral. “My family has closed its doors on me forever. I will live with Saksham’s family for the rest of my life,” she declared, demanding capital punishment for the accused. Both families reportedly have past criminal records. Anchal appealed to the public: “No one should be murdered just because of caste. I am confident justice will be served.”The shocking allegation of police instigation has triggered outrage, with activists and political leaders demanding immediate suspension and arrest of the two named officers. Senior police officials have assured a high-level inquiry into the role of the policemen. Also Read: Meghalaya: Mukul Sangma on Verge of Quitting TMC, Multiple Parties in Touch with Ex-CMAdvertismentAdvertisment Read the Next Article
