UIDAI Rolls Out Fully Digital Aadhaar Updates from November 1; PAN Linking Mandatory by Dec 31

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced major reforms to streamline Aadhaar services, enabling residents to update essential details entirely online starting November 1, 2025, without visiting any enrolment centre.

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced major reforms to streamline Aadhaar services, enabling residents to update essential details entirely online starting November 1, 2025, without visiting any enrolment centre.

Citizens can now revise their name, address, date of birth, or mobile number through the official portal using a simple digital process. UIDAI stated that the initiative aims to enhance security, convenience, and efficiency, allowing updates to be completed from home in minutes.

Earlier, such modifications mandated physical presence at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Under the new system, submitted details will undergo digital verification against official documents such as PAN, passport, driving license, or ration card, ensuring quicker and more dependable processing.

Aadhaar-PAN Linking Deadline Set

The government has enforced compulsory Aadhaar-PAN linkage for all PAN holders by December 31, 2025.Failure to comply will result in PAN deactivation from January 1, 2026, rendering it unusable for tax filings and financial transactions.

Applicants for new PAN cards must also undergo Aadhaar-based authentication during submission.

Paperless KYC for Banks and Institutions

Banking and financial KYC procedures are now fully digital and hassle-free, offering three options:

- Aadhaar OTP verification  

- Video-based KYC  

- In-person verification (optional)

Updated Fee Schedule Effective November 1

UIDAI has revised charges for various services:

- Name, address, or mobile update: Rs 75  

- Biometric update (fingerprint, iris, or photograph): Rs 125  

- Biometric updates are free for children aged 5–7 and 15–17 years  

- Online document-based updates: Free until June 14, 2026; Rs 75 at centres thereafter  

- Aadhaar reprint: Rs 40  

- Doorstep enrolment: Rs 700 for the first person, Rs 350 per additional member at the same address
