The 38-year-old, married to Bollywood actor and fitness icon Milind Soman, crossed the finish line last Sunday, waving her traditional Assamese Gamusa—a symbol of her cultural pride—amid cheers from spectators.

Ankita's exhilarating journey, shared vividly on social media, encapsulated a profound personal transformation. "Ah, the joy of being able to wave my beautiful Assamese Gamusa at the finish line of Ironman Calella Barcelona ❤️," she posted, reflecting on the gruelling yet fulfilling challenge. Just a month prior, at the Ironman 70.3 in Tallinn, Estonia, she discovered "strength in surrender."

This time, in the sun-kissed coastal town of Calella, she embraced "courage," evolving into a version of herself that is "stronger, softer, and endlessly alive."

The full Ironman—a formidable test of endurance comprising a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike ride, and 42.2 km run—proved no match for Ankita's spirit. She described the swim as "wavy," the bike leg as "windy," and the run as "super fun," emphasising that her goal was not conquest but harmony with the course. "It was never about conquering the course but becoming one with it 🌸 Loved every bit of it!! More on this later 🥹," she wrote, thanking the organisers at @ironmantrispain for their kindness.

Hailing from Guwahati, Ankita, originally named Sunkusmita Konwar, has long been an advocate for wellness, drawing from her Assamese roots and her early career as a cabin crew executive with Air Asia. Her achievement follows the couple's successful half-Ironman finish in Tallinn, which served as a perfect warmup. Milind, completing his second full Ironman a decade after his first—and over half an hour faster—gushed with pride on Instagram: "Ankita Konwar from India, you are an IRONMAN!!!!! ... So incredibly proud of you, my love! ... And I hear you are the first Assamese woman to complete a full Ironman!!"

"From push-ups on trains to Ironman competitions—they're showing us that age is just a number," one commenter noted, while another praised, "Completing a full Ironman is absolutely phenomenal. Hats off!"
