The recovery was made during a search operation conducted by Howly police on Jania Road while Al Amin Haque was travelling from his residence in Baghbar to Barpeta Road.Following the recovery, Howly police detained Al Amin Haque for questioning, triggering widespread reactions and sharp responses from several student and political organisations in the district. The incident has created a sensation across Barpeta, with multiple organisations alleging that the narcotic substances were planted on the vehicle as part of a conspiracy. Groups, including the All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU), Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Satro Mukti Sangram Samiti, and Raijor Dal have claimed that anti-social elements deliberately placed drugs beneath the rear bumper of the vehicle and subsequently informed the police.Leaders of these organisations alleged that Al Amin Haque has been targeted for consistently raising his voice against anti-social activities and criminal elements operating in various parts of Barpeta district. They further claimed that his anti-government stance and outspoken opposition to crime may have led to a deliberate attempt to frame him.Demanding his immediate and unconditional release, the organisations warned that arresting the student leader could lead to serious repercussions and public unrest. They have also called for a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation into the incident to uncover the truth behind the recovery.Meanwhile, police officials stated that the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken based on the findings. Also Read: Back to the wild: Chandra and Kanai return home to KazirangaAdvertismentAdvertisment Read the Next Article
