The court also imposed a fine of ₹20,000 on the accused.According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on June 17, 2020, when an argument broke out between Apan Das and his wife, Kalpana Das, at their residence over a domestic issue. During the altercation, the accused allegedly struck his wife on the head with a wooden object, resulting in her death on the spot.Following the incident, Apan Das reportedly attempted suicide. However, local residents intervened, apprehended him, and handed him over to the police. The police registered a case and carried out a detailed investigation, later submitting a charge sheet before the court.After nearly five years of trial and examination of witnesses and evidence, the court held the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence.
