"Overcome with emotion at the memorial site of her husband in Sonapur, Zubeen Garg"s wife Garima Garg Saikia on Friday questioned the very motive behind the killing of a man who, she said, “gave away everything he had during his lifetime.”Advertisment Her reaction came shortly after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam CID submitted a voluminous chargesheet in the high-profile murder case, marking a critical milestone in one of India"s most extensively investigated homicide probes. Standing beside Zubeen"s grave, lighting lamps and offering prayers, Garima Garg Saikia told the media, “I am unable to understand how someone could kill a person like Zubeen for personal benefit. He lived his life by giving—his time, his resources, his heart. What could possibly justify such a crime?” Visibly emotional, she welcomed the filing of the chargesheet, saying the family now places its complete faith in the judicial process. “The SIT has worked with immense effort. The results are in line with what people expected. Now everything rests with the justice system. Those found guilty must receive the strictest punishment. No one should escape accountability.” Faith in Assam Police, No Move to Singapore Garima Garg Saikia categorically stated that the family has full confidence in the Assam Police and the Indian legal system, adding that there is no question of pursuing legal action in Singapore at this stage. “Singapore and India have completely different legal processes. We have already registered the case here, and the investigation has progressed in the right direction. We trust the Assam Police and the laws of our country. We believe justice will be delivered here.” She also acknowledged the parallel findings of Singapore authorities but stressed that the responsibility now lies with the Assam government and the state police. “They too carry the emotion and responsibility towards Zubeen. We respect that and do not wish to go against it.” One of India"s Largest Murder Chargesheets Earlier in the day, the SIT submitted a 2,500-page primary chargesheet, supported by over 12,000 pages of digital and documentary evidence, before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Kamrup Metro. Confirming the development, CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta said the dossier includes exhaustive forensic, financial, digital and circumstantial evidence, making it one of the most comprehensive chargesheets ever filed in a murder case in India. Multiple accused have been booked under stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of murder, criminal conspiracy, extortion, cheating, criminal breach of trust and destruction of evidence. Among the principal accused, Siddharth Sharma, Shyamkanu Mahanta, Shekharjyoti Goswami, Amritprabha Mahanta, Sandipan Garg, Nandeswar Bora, and Paresh Baishya face serious charges, with several booked directly under Section 103(1) for murder. CM Assures Justice Reacting to the filing of the chargesheet, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the SIT had fulfilled its commitment within the stipulated time. “We are determined to deliver justice to our beloved artist Zubeen Garg at any cost. The court will examine the chargesheet and deliver justice. The legal process must be respected by all,” the Chief Minister said. Next Hearing on December 16 The Kamrup Metropolitan Court has taken cognizance of the case, directing all accused to appear on December 16, with provisions for virtual appearances where required. As the legal battle moves into its next phase, Garima Garg Saikia"s words resonate deeply across Assam and beyond: “A man like Zubeen did not deserve this. Justice must not fail him.” Also Read: Jatin Bora says Zubeen Garg was taken advantage of, expresses confidence in chargesheet"
