Assam Government Refutes Claims of SoP for Zubeen Garg’s Cremation Site

The Assam government dismissed alleged misleading social media reports that suggested a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) had been issued for visiting the cremation site of the heartthrob Zubeen Garg in Sonapur on the outskirts of Guwahati.

Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika took to X, stating, “These claims are entirely false and without merit. No SoP has been issued by the Assam Government regarding visits to Zubeen Da’s cremation site. We urge the public to stop spreading misinformation.”

The minister’s statement addressed a wave of unverified posts circulating online, which allegedly claimed that the government had introduced specific guidelines for visitors to the singer’s resting place.

Officials termed the posts as rumours, which caused widespread confusion among Zubeen Garg’s fans and the general public.

Officials from the state’s Information and Public Relations Department also confirmed that no such directive exists and encouraged people to rely on credible sources for accurate information before sharing news.

Since Zubeen Garg’s passing, his cremation site has attracted thousands of fans daily, all paying tribute to the beloved singer. The government has not yet issued any official guidelines regarding crowd control or visitation protocols at the site.
