"The court hearing in the mysterious death case involving the death of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg concluded today. The next hearing has been scheduled for January 17.Advertisment During today's proceedings, the accused Amritprabha Mahanta filed a bail application. Additionally, Zubeen Garg's cousin, Sandipan Garg and two personal security officers (PSOs) also submitted bail pleas. Meanwhile, accused Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta have independently appointed lawyers, engaging advocates from Kolkata to represent them in the case. Accused Shekharjyoti Goswami has also appointed his own counsel separately. The lawyer for Amritprabha Mahanta presented arguments in support of her bail application today. However, the prosecution stated that it would file a written objection on the next hearing date. It is worth noting that seven individuals have been accused in this case, with the trial ongoing in the sessions court. It may be mentioned that Zubeen Garg died in Singapore during a swimming incident on September 19, 2025. Reports had claimed that although Zubeen was then rushed to a hospital, he could not be saved. Following the incident, his manager, Siddharth Sharma, was accused of orchestrating the "incident" along with other accused. The entire incident is currently under investigation.
