The beloved artist’s mortal remains will also be kept at Sarusajai Stadium tomorrow, September 22, for continued public homage, ensuring fans and admirers can bid farewell to the cultural icon.

Zubeen Garg, aged 52, passed away tragically on September 19, 2025, while swimming near Lazarus Island in Singapore. His death has sparked widespread grief across Assam, with the state observing a three-day mourning period ending tomorrow.

The decision to keep the stadium open responds to the outpouring of love from fans, many of whom have gathered spontaneously across Assam, lighting candles and playing Garg’s iconic songs.

The stadium, a significant venue in Guwahati, is expected to see thousands of mourners, including fans, artists, and dignitaries, paying their respects to the singer whose voice defined Assamese pride and unity.

Sarma also inspected the proposed cremation site in Sonapur today, ensuring a dignified farewell at a serene riverside location along the Brahmaputra.
