"Hagrama Mohilary, president of the Bodoland People"s Front (BPF), was sworn in as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in a ceremony held at the Bodoland Secretariat Field in Kokrajhar, Assam, despite challenging weather conditions on October 5.Advertisment Rihon Daimary, a former minister, was also sworn in as the deputy CEM during the event. The swearing-in follows the BPF"s sweeping victory in the recent BTC elections, securing 28 of the 40 available seats. The BTC, an autonomous administrative body, governs the Bodoland Territorial Region, encompassing the districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, and Udalguri. It may be mentioned that UPPL-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition struggled, with UPPL winning 7 seats and BJP securing 5. The Congress, despite a vigorous campaign led by Gaurav Gogoi, failed to capture a single seat. The Gana Suraksha Party also drew a blank in the final tally. Vote counting extended into the late hours, with BPF candidates surging ahead in multiple constituencies by the afternoon, solidifying their lead. Celebrations broke out across Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Tamulpur, and Udalguri districts as BPF supporters took to the streets, marking their party"s resounding success.
