The deceased has been identified as Jiyabur Rahman of the Sonai Bera village in Batadrava.

The incident occurred at Sunai Bera village, near Batadrawa, where a man was allegedly called out of his house over a phone call and later murdered.

The deceased has been identified as Jiyabur Rahman.

According to the family, a close relative identified as Alal Uddin called Jiyabur on the phone and asked him to come out of the house.

Later in the night, Jiyabur was found lying in a critical condition at a location not far from his home. It was not immediately clear whether he was attacked or if there was any sort of foul play.

Jiyabur’s wife told the media,“Alal Uddin called my husband at around 9 pm. After this call, he left the house, possibly to meet Alal. Around 10 pm, we heard some noise after which I tried calling him, but he (Jiyabur) did not pick up. When I called again, the phone was answered, but there was no response from the other side."

"Later, I heard a scream and went outside, where I saw my husband lying on the ground. His phone was with a member of Alal Uddin’s family”, she claimed.

She added that Jiyabur was rushed to a private hospital in Nagaon for treatment. However, as his condition worsened, doctors referred him to Guwahati for better medical care. However, he later died during treatment. It was reported that he died due to a severe head injury.

Later, the family formally filed a police complaint. The police later recovered the body and sent it to Nagaon for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been initiated into the matter.
