Nayanthara, Mammootty and Mohanlal’s ‘Patriot’ to Release in April

Director Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming film Patriot, starring Mammootty, Mohanlal and Nayanthara, has confirmed that the movie will release in theatres worldwide on April 23. The announcement was made on Republic Day, which added to the excitement among fans.

About the film

Patriot is a political thriller that talks about government surveillance and data privacy. The story revolves around a system called Periscope, which tracks citizens and gives them social scores. This leads to serious questions about freedom and control.

Mammootty plays Dr Daniel James, a man who tries to prove his innocence after being falsely accused of a crime. Mohanlal is seen as Colonel Rahim, a powerful and important character. The teaser showed both stars questioning whether it is right to monitor people in the name of security.

The film brings Mammootty and Mohanlal together after more than 10 years. They were last seen together in Kadal Kadannoru Maathukutty (2013). It also marks Nayanthara’s reunion with Mammootty after Puthiya Niyamam (2016).

First Look And Cast

The makers recently released the first character poster from the film which was shared by Nayanthara on her Instagram handle. In the poster, she appears emotional yet strong, hinting at an intense role. The dark colours suggest a serious theme. The tagline on the poster reads, “Dissent is patriotic.”

The film also stars Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Rajiv Menon, Revathi, Jinu Joseph, Danish Husain, Shaheen Siddique, Sanal Aman and Prakash Belawadi.

Technical team

Music for Patriot is composed by Sushin Shyam, while Manush Nandan handles cinematography. Editing is done by Mahesh Narayanan along with Rahul Radhakrishnan. The film has four stunt choreographers, showing that it will include action along with political drama.

Release expectations

With the release now confirmed for late April, the film is expected to be one of the biggest earners of the year. The production team, led by Anto Joseph and KG Anil Kumar, finished the final shoot on January 4. Since the stars have such a huge following, theatre owners are preparing for a massive turnout across Kerala and international markets.
