"A fresh controversy has erupted around expelled Veer Lachit Sena leader Bikash Asom, as he faces multiple allegations of extortion and intimidation of businessmen in Guwahati.Advertisment The Dispur Police have registered a fresh case against Bikash Asom, including Case No. 883/25, filed under Sections 308(2), 308(5), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The cases involve serious charges of extortion, abduction, and criminal intimidation. According to police reports, during the Diwali festival, Bikash allegedly demanded huge sums of money — running into lakhs — from several firecracker traders in Fancy Bazaar. He is accused of blackmailing and extorting traders, collecting cash forcibly during the peak festive sales period. Complainants Jitendra Haloi, Vicky Roy, and Mithun Kumar have reportedly lodged an FIR against him, alleging that Bikash forcibly took ₹1.5 lakh from Jitendra Haloi. Dispur Police produced Bikash Asom before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court, seeking 10 days of police custody for further interrogation. Police sources confirm that several other police stations have pending cases against him for similar offences involving extortion and blackmail.
