The protest, organised by the Cotton University Students’ Unity Forum, began at 8 AM on the university premises.AdvertismentSpeaking to the media, one of the participating students expressed deep frustration over the prolonged wait for justice.“This is so sad — it has been more than two months now, and students of Cotton University along with people across the state are still compelled to protest demanding justice for our beloved singer and cultural icon, Zubeen Garg,” the student said.“We cannot stop our academic responsibilities even after two months, but we also cannot abandon our demand. He was our backbone, and we will continue seeking justice to keep his ambitions and thoughts alive. Alongside our studies, this fight must go on.”The student further alleged that Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma are responsible for the incident, but emphasised the need for due legal process.“There is a system within the law. The process must move forward lawfully, and the SIT must submit a proper and accurate chargesheet. Moreover, as the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said, justice must be delivered by December, without any further delay,” the student added.Another student said that the protest was part of a week-long observance marking the singer’s birth anniversary.“On Zubeen Garg’s 53rd birth anniversary, we started this programme, naming it Zubeen Saptah. Throughout the week, after every event, our single demand remained the same — justice for Zubeen Garg. We want to know what exactly happened that day and how he died. We are hungry, but that doesn’t matter now; our voices are demanding justice,” the student said.“We have exams approaching, but even with that in mind, we— the students — are determined to continue our fight for justice,” the student added. Also Read: Two Months On, SIT Probe into Zubeen Garg’s Mysterious Death Nears Chargesheet Stage Zubeen GargAdvertismentAdvertisment Read the Next Article
