ManipurBanned Militant Group KCP (PWG) Accuses Former Manipur MLA of Drug Trafficking LinksThe KCP-PWG has claimed that a former MLA from Manipur has been involved in trafficking drugs to Bangladesh using certain routes in Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya.DY365 Mar 03, 2026 17:28 ISTRepresentative imageImphal: The Kangleipak Communist Party-People’s War Group (KCP-PWG) in Manipur has accused former Wabagai MLA Md Fajur Rahim of being involved in a drug trafficking network aimed at smuggling narcotics to Bangladesh.AdvertismentIn a statement issued by its Military Council, the banned group claimed that Rahim exploited his political connections to facilitate the transport of banned substances.The outfit alleged that an ambulance, originally flagged off by the Congress party in Manipur for COVID-19 relief services in the Wabagai constituency, was misused to carry drugs through Manipur, Assam, and Meghalaya en route to Bangladesh.The KCP (PWG) further identified Hefaj Uddin as one of Rahim’s close associates, allegedly involved in the trade.AdvertismentThe case, registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, is currently under trial at the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge in Karbi Anglong.According to the statement, Hefaj Uddin was arrested on July 22, 2023, in connection with the recovery of drugs valued at approximately Rs 5 crore from a car.The group also referenced a separate incident involving the seizure of 207 grams of heroin (estimated worth Rs 14 crore) and around 50,000 YABA tablets (weighing about 4.8 kg) by Guwahati City Police from an ambulance bearing registration MN03C0037. The arrested person in that case was identified as Mirajaul Islam from Rajabala in Meghalaya.
