A suspected cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) was arrested in Imphal East of Manipur on Tuesday, reports stated.

Security forces arrested Kshetrimayum Brajamohon Singh, alias Ingo, a 53-year-old active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), at his home in Nungoi Makha Leikai, under the jurisdiction of Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East, Manipur.

Singh was allegedly disrupting government schemes and programs while threatening to shut down shops and businesses in the Lamlai area.

A mobile phone was confiscated from him during the arrest.

Police reported ongoing search operations and area domination exercises in vulnerable and fringe areas across multiple districts. To ensure the safe movement of essential goods, security forces facilitated the transit of 421 vehicles along National Highway 37, with robust security measures and convoys deployed along sensitive routes.

Additionally, 114 checkpoints were established across the state’s hill and valley regions, with no detentions reported.

In a separate enforcement drive, police issued 35 challans for motor vehicle violations, collecting fines totalling Rs 46,000 on Tuesday. Tinted films were also removed from two vehicles as part of the operation.
