All five individuals were registered under booth number 216 in Dhoraiya and had appeared on earlier voter lists. However, their names were removed from the electoral roll after being erroneously classified as deceased in the revised list.

On Friday, the five voters appeared before the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Dhoraiya, asserting that they are alive and eligible to vote in the upcoming elections. BDO Arvind Kumar confirmed the incident and assured swift action to rectify the mistake. “The five voters have submitted Form 6 to have their names reinstated in the electoral roll. We have ordered an inquiry to investigate how their names were incorrectly listed among deceased voters,” Kumar stated.

The incident has raised concerns about the accuracy and oversight of the ongoing voter list revision process under the SIR. According to official data, nearly 47 lakh names have been removed from Bihar’s voter list since the revision exercise began. This case underscores the need for greater scrutiny to ensure such errors do not disenfranchise eligible voters.
