Security forces and fire tenders rushed to the spot immediately after the blast, and the area has been cordoned off. Preliminary inputs suggest the possibility of an explosive device planted inside the vehicle, though officials have yet to confirm the cause of the explosion.

Our sources informed that the first explosion occurred in one car, followed by three more back-to-back blasts. The impact was so powerful that the windshields of several nearby vehicles were shattered. "The exact reason for the blast has not been ascertained yet, as the investigation is still underway. Delhi Police have completely cordoned off the area," said the source.

Meanwhile, officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have reached the site and begun their probe. It may be mentioned that earlier today, Delhi Police had apprehended a suspected terrorist from Ghazipur. Following the blast, the entire national capital has been placed on high alert.

The site of the explosion is close to Lajpat Rai Market, known for its large number of electrical goods shops. However, since Monday is a weekly holiday, the market was closed. Under normal circumstances, the crowd in the market and at the nearby metro station would have been much larger, potentially leading to even higher casualties.
