Tripura CPIM Lodges FIR Against BJP Leader for Death Threats to Party Workers

Agartala: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Tripura filed a police complaint on Saturday against the BJP's Barjala Mandal leader Tinkubrata Das, accusing him of issuing violent threats against CPIM cadres.

A widely shared social media video allegedly captures Das threatening to "skin alive" CPIM workers unless they "mend their ways." The statements were reportedly made amid jubilation over the NDA's win in the Bihar Assembly polls.

Two days later, a CPIM team headed by Sadar Division Secretary Amal Chakraborty formally submitted the FIR at West Agartala Police Station, accompanied by Barjala MLA Sudip Sarkar.

Addressing the media, Chakraborty described the Bihar results as routine democratic outcomes but condemned the ensuing unrest in Tripura, where he alleged BJP activists torched party offices, vandalised motorcycles, and poisoned fish ponds, causing substantial losses to supporters.

He labelled Das's remarks as evidence of deteriorating law and order, pointing out the irony of arrests for criticising the Chief Minister while a ruling party figure openly threatens opponents. Chakraborty urged authorities to conduct a fair and thorough probe.
