Ajmal Calls Assam CM ‘Paltu’, Asks ‘Tera Kya Hoga Re Kaliya?’ Amid Power Politics

He further claimed that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is aware that he may not be able to win the next election and has therefore entered into an internal understanding with Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi

AIUDF supremo and former Dhubri MP Maulana Badruddin Ajmal on Monday night marked the English New Year by singing “Happy New Year To All Of You” and extending greetings to the people, while simultaneously launching a sharp political attack on both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.

Expressing strong confidence in his party’s future, Ajmal said the new year would prove to be “very good” for the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).

Addressing the media, Ajmal alleged that the long-projected rivalry between the BJP and the Congress has now been exposed, claiming that the two parties are maintaining a tacit understanding behind the scenes. He accused both parties of jointly orchestrating the ongoing eviction drives in Assam.

“The eviction drives which are being carried out in Assam are a planned move between the Congress and the BJP. This has now been exposed,” Ajmal alleged.

He further claimed that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is aware that he may not be able to win the next election and has therefore entered into an internal understanding with Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi.

Ajmal alleged that the Chief Minister’s political calculations are driven by fear of defeat.

“When everything was fine in the BJP, he switched from Congress to BJP. Now, as the Congress’ internal situation is improving, he is planning to move back to the Congress,” Ajmal claimed.

Referring to the impact of the eviction drives, Ajmal said, “After these evictions, where will these people go? They will move to the char areas, and this will ultimately benefit the Congress. If Congress comes to power, then what will happen to the Chief Minister? ‘Tera kya hoga re Kaliya?’ That is why the Chief Minister is keeping his instincts and tactics properly aligned on both sides.”

Drawing a parallel with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Ajmal said he has given Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma the nickname “Paltu Chief Minister.” “Like Nitish Kumar, he keeps changing sides for the sake of power. This is politics driven purely by lust for power,” Ajmal said, accusing the Chief Minister of indulging in opportunistic politics.

Questioning the credibility of opinion polls, the AIUDF chief dismissed the People’s Pulse survey, terming it a “BJP Pulse.” He alleged that such surveys are designed to favour the ruling party and mislead the public.

Ajmal also announced that for the first time, AIUDF would field two women candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections, calling it a significant step towards greater political representation.

Reiterating AIUDF’s openness to alliances, Ajmal said, “The doors of AIUDF are open for opposition unity to protect democracy.” However, he issued a strong warning against another term for the BJP in Assam. “If the BJP comes back to power, Assam will be totally destroyed,” he claimed.

In a controversial remark, Ajmal said that if the BJP returns to power once again, it would reflect the extent of the sins committed by the people, irrespective of religion. “Whether Hindu or Muslim, it will show how much 'paap' (sin) the people have committed,” he said.

Concluding his address, Ajmal maintained that the coming year would be politically significant and advantageous for AIUDF, while accusing both the BJP and the Congress of deceiving the public through covert cooperation.

The former MP also mentioned that AIUDF is likely to contest around 30 seats in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, although the final decision on seat-sharing is yet to be taken.
