Assam: Multiple FIRs Filed Against Vlogger in Barak Valley Over Alleged Offensive Posts

Guwahati: Shocked and enraged over repeated abusive and derogatory social media posts, multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) have been lodged against a content creator from the Barak Valley. 

The FIRs were lodged following allegations of posting objectionable remarks on social media targeting Hinduism and senior political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to complaints filed at multiple police stations, including Sribhumi and Silchar Sadar, the accused individual has been identified as Bilal Ahmed, who operates a Facebook page titled “Gym Vlogs Bilal Boxer” and allegedly made derogatory comments about the Hindu faith and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has also been accused of making controversial statements against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in recent posts.

The issue has sparked widespread outrage across the Barak Valley, with several organisations and local groups condemning the remarks and demanding legal action. Members of the Youth Congress and the Bajrang Dal have reportedly submitted formal complaints, urging authorities to take strict measures.

Meanwhile, sources within the police confirmed that multiple FIRs have been registered and that an investigation is underway. While the accused is believed to be a resident of Hojai district, reports suggest he is currently employed in South India.

Authorities have also stated that appropriate legal steps will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. However, as of now, no arrest has been reported in connection with the case.
