"Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reportedly stated that the Assam Police will not travel to Singapore to investigate the mysterious death of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.Advertisment Speaking at a media briefing, Sarma said the jurisdictional limitations, stating, "Assam Police lack authority in Singapore. We must rely on diplomatic channels and family cooperation to proceed." The Special Investigation Team (SIT) tasked with probing Garg"s death faced a setback as its October 6 deadline for questioning Singapore-based individuals expired without compliance. Despite multiple notices, none of the summoned individuals—Tanmoy Phukan, Abhimanyu Talukdar, Debojyoti Hazarika, Rupkamal Kalita, Siddharth Bora, Parikshit Sharma, Sudipta Chatterjee, and Bazid Ahmed—appeared before the SIT. These individuals are believed to have been in Singapore during the incident. According to SIT officials, the lack of response is hindering the investigation"s progress and transparency. While some cited personal or logistical issues, most have not provided any explanation for their non-compliance. Sources from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) revealed that the SIT is now considering additional legal measures, such as issuing new summons or pursuing stricter actions against those ignoring the notices. CM Sarma issued a stern warning, stating, “The October 6 deadline has passed. Non-cooperation will lead to stringent measures.”"
