Assam: Shikha Sharma Detailed By Crime Branch After Garima Saikia Garg's FIR

Guwahati: Controversial social media personality Shikha Sharma was reportedly detained by the Guwahati Crime Branch from the Patharquarry area in Guwahati, Assam, on Monday after multiple FIRs against her.

Sarma reportedly faced multiple FIRs over alleged derogatory remarks against the late music icon Zubeen Garg.

Shikha Sharma had made several controversial and defamatory comments on social media targeting the late legendary singer Zubeen Garg. These remarks allegedly attacked his character and made insensitive references to the circumstances surrounding his death.

Today (Monday), Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, filed a formal complaint (FIR) with the Crime Branch against Shikha Sharma.

Based on this complaint, Assam Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 152, 196, 299, 351, 352, 353, and 356 (Case No. 2/26).

Acting on the registered case, a team from the Crime Branch detained Shikha Sharma from her flat at Nilachal Apartment in Patharquarry.

Reports indicate that Zubeen Garg’s fans and fan clubs have also lodged separate complaints against Shikha Sharma at Dispur Police Station.

The allegations state that Shikha Sharma not only defended the accused persons linked to Zubeen Garg’s death (such as Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddhartha Sharma, and others) on social media but also posted objectionable comments that damaged the singer’s reputation and caused mental distress to his family.

Police are currently interrogating Shikha Sharma as the investigation continues.
