Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Assam on Saturday morning for a packed schedule, inaugurating major infrastructure projects and launching development initiatives aimed at boosting connectivity, education, and digital infrastructure in the state.

The Prime Minister began his visit by inaugurating the newly constructed Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu in Guwahati. The bridge, which connects Guwahati with North Guwahati, is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the region. After the inauguration, PM Modi took a short walk on the bridge along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Governor Lakshman Acharya.

Later, at a programme held at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati, the Prime Minister inaugurated the temporary campus of IIM Guwahati, marking an important milestone in strengthening higher education infrastructure in Assam. He also inaugurated the National Data Centre in the city, aimed at boosting digital capacity and supporting data storage and management needs in the region.

As part of his visit, PM Modi also flagged off electric buses under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme, promoting eco-friendly public transportation and sustainable urban mobility.
