“Zubeen was like family to me. I felt it was my responsibility to remain silent until his final rites were conducted with the respect he deserved,” Narain stated.

Addressing speculation about his recent travels, Narain clarified that he was invited by cultural organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta to attend the North East Festival in Singapore, an event set to host three state Chief Ministers, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, and MP Pabitra Margherita. Narain saw the festival as an ideal global stage to launch his English-language book commemorating the centenary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s birth.

He emphasised that he personally funded his travel and accommodation for the trip and informed Mahanta that his visit would be limited to 19 September due to a pre-scheduled flight to Dubai the following day.
