Meghalaya: 42-Year-Old Man Held for Stalking and Sexually Harassing Women in Laitumkhrah

A 42-year-old man, Tamdorlang Risaw, from Nongrah Block II, was arrested on Saturday in Mawsynram for allegedly stalking and sexually harassing multiple women in the Laitumkhrah area of Shillong, Meghalaya, over recent weeks.

The arrest, executed by the Officer-in-Charge of Mawsynram Police Station, followed multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) filed by victims. On October 15, Laitumkhrah Police Station received two separate complaints detailing incidents of stalking and sexual harassment in public spaces involving a black Bolero vehicle driven by the suspect.

Police investigations revealed a pattern of offences linked to Risaw and his vehicle, with the earliest reported incident occurring in May 2025 near Don Bosco Square. Additional complaints were lodged on September 17 along Dhankheti-Malki Road and on September 23 near Don Bosco Laitumkhrah, where the accused allegedly committed obscene acts in front of two women before fleeing.

The most recent incident took place on October 13 near Loreto Convent, where Risaw reportedly confronted a woman, engaged in obscene behaviour, and wrongfully restrained her using his vehicle.

Following a coordinated effort by East Khasi Hills police stations, Risaw was apprehended, and the Java-coloured Bolero used in the incidents was seized. Authorities confirmed that the accused will be presented before a court for further legal action as the investigation continues.
